Wow, have I ever been slacking on this blog.
Here are a few things that have kept me busy these past few months:
Celebrating Mike and I's 3rd Anniversary
Going to the Zoo
Moving into a new house
Unpacking said house
Mike's Parents visiting
My parents visiting
Potty training Connor
Many trips to Ikea to furnish our new space
Day trips to reservoirs and other parks
Playing and giggling with my little guy

I bought hair clippers yesterday because Mike likes to have his neck cleaned up every once in a while between hair cuts. I bought it thinking that's all I would use them for... well after testing them out last night, Mike asked if I would just finish the job and cut the rest of his hair. I was super nervous but he insisted I couldn't mess it up. I begged to differ, but these clippers came with those gauge extensions where you can't cut shorter than a certain point, so I went ahead. I was really surprised at how well it came out. I think the hair cut I gave Mike is on par if not better than the ones he gets at super cuts. Score!
So I was feeling a little confident and decided I'd try them out on Connor. I stood behind him as he was "brushing his teeth" (which is him just holding the toothbrush under the running water and then sucking on the toothbrush) and proceeded to hack away. He didn't enjoy it, but he didn't squirm as much as he did when I use to try cutting his hair with plain ol' hair scissors. It went fast and it turned out pretty ok. Not as good as what my sister did with her toddlers hair but definitely OK.
I may have put a little too much product in his hair though. Haha!
I guess I could probably try to straighten out the back bottom of his hair, but I didn't want it to be "too clean" of a hair cut. But I may change my mind.
I never got a shot of Mike's hair, but when I do, I'll share it!

I've been spending the last few days trying to figure how we should celebrate Connor's 2nd birthday. I'm finding it really hard! It's even harder to figure out what we should give to him too. He already has so many toys as it is. I was thinking about maybe new shoes and clothes and maybe a new dresser to replace the one I broke, but I doubt those are any fun for a kid to receive.
I also have to remember that he's 2 and he's probably not going to remember such details.
If we had a house, I'd want to throw a party at home, but unfortunately we live in a 2 bedroom apartment on the second and third floor. Kinda cramped.
The zoo is kinda far away, we took him to the aquarium last year, and it's too cold and rainy to do anything outdoors. Ack!
Moving on...
Connor's vocabulary has really blossomed in the last week. He's always been somewhat delayed in his speech, but it's really cool to hear him try. Here is a list of the words he can say now, or as many as I can remember:
1.Please ("plee")
2.More
3.Cat ("dat")
4.Meow ("mau")
5.Woof Woof
6.Bird ("boo")
7.Draw
8.1-2-3
9.Star ("darts")
10.Baby
11.Mommy
12.Daddy
13.Hi
14.Bye
15.Shoe
16.Socks ("schots")
17.Shirt (ummm, sometimes he says it right. hehe)
18.Snow
19.Truck ("traw")
20.Choo Choo
21.Banana ("nawni")
22.Food ("foo")
23.Juice ("joo")
24.Ball ("bawl")
25.Light ("lie")
26.Cheese
27.Night Night ("nigh nigh")
28.Blue ("boo)
29.Balloon ("boon")
30.Book (accompanied with the sign for book and sounds like "boo")
31.Teeth ("teech")
32.Bath ("bah")
33.Water("wawa")
34.All Done ("done")
35.Fly ("fry")
36.Bowl
37.Yes
38.Chair ("cho")
39.Eye
40.Potty
41.PeePee
42.PooPoo
43.Bus
What I think is sort of funny is that he uses the sign "more" for everything. He'll come up to me and give me a serious look and sign "more" and it's a game to figure out what he wants more of. Today however when I asked he replied with "cheese". Sometimes when I'm holding him if he wants down he'll sign "more" and then point down. We're going to have to differiniate more and please it seems.

We took Connor to his first ever movie at the movie theater yesterday.
It was a lot of fun. We weren't expecting too much, and had already decided that if he got antsy that we would just have to call it a day. He lasted the entire movie though! He loved watching the dogs, naming things he saw and mimicking the sounds he heard in the movie. He was generally quiet, and I really don't think the other people in the theater would have anything to complain about him being there.
We're looking forward to doing this again when another kiddy movie hits the theaters!

Try to say "Purple Puffy Puppies" 10 times fast without laughing.
That's how Mike and I spent most of our trip home from Portland after his birthday dinner. I have no idea how we got started on tongue twisters, but it made us laugh so much that Connor joined in on the laughter.
I love moments like those.

For a few months now I've been trying to talk Mike into letting us switch rooms with Connor. Connor at his young age has acquired many a toy and we were just running out of space in his room and my living room was being taken over aggressively! Finally, after this past Christmas, Mike caved and agreed to the switch.
Yesterday we started in on it, and boy was it a task I was not prepared for. There was no set plan... we just started moving things... that was the first bad idea. I attempted to disassemble Connor's crib and move it across the hall. As I entered the doorway I heard a loud snap and knew instantly what had happened. I broke my baby's crib! It was the worst feeling ever. We didn't know what to do. We had two options; Buy a new crib that he'll probably only use for another couple of months, or proceed to the big boy bed. We chose the latter.
I think he likes it. He slept in it for a good 5 hours last night before waking up and crawling into bed with us. We definitely have a long road ahead of us but we're up for the challenge! ...I think.
Oh and I broke his dresser too... it was a bad night.
